The Waalwege hillside trails…
A highlight for everyone
„Waale“– do you know this term? “Waale” refers to the paths along the ancient irrigation channels. The Waalwege hillside trails leading along the 13th-century irrigation canals are today easy hiking trails that can be walked year-round and which are suitable for families with children!
The most popular of these waterway paths in the surroundings of Tirolo are the Riffianer Waalweg, the Kuenser Waalweg, the Partschinser Waalweg, the Algunder Waalweg and the Marlinger Waalweg as well as the Maiser Waalweg trails, encircling the entire Merano basin. The Meraner Waalrunde Circuit Trail brings together eleven different waterway paths, including the Waalwege trails in Tirolo.
