Merano & Tirolo...
Your must see’s

Spa city Merano

The spa city Merano stands for an Alpine-Mediterranean lifestyle. For an outstanding scenery between pastures and palm trees. However, not only. The second largest city in South Tyrol has even more to offer: the thermal baths. The many promenades. The Sissi path. The colourful arcades. The women’s museum. The small cafés. The shopping possibilities. From the Pataunerhof in Tirolo the city centre of Merano is comfortably reachable by bus or chairlift!

State capital Bolzano

The state capital Bolzano is a true must for all those, who pass their holidays in the heart of South Tyrol. An Italian “cappuccino” at Piazza Walther. Going to the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology which accommodates a sensational treasure: Oetzi, the man from the Ice Age. Visiting an international fair. Exploring museums, castles and churches. Here you will live the Italian “dolce far niente”!

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

Listen up, garden lovers: not far from Tirolo, on the outskirts of Merano, there are the Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. More than 80 garden landscapes. A romantic pond of water lilies. 11 artistic pavillons. Local and exotic plants as far as the eye can reach. A highlight for the whole family. From the Pataunerhof in Tirolo the Gardens and its Touriseum are comfortably reachable by public transports.

Tirolo Castle

A curtain wall built around 1100. Frescos from the 13th century. The oldest Tyrolean glass paintings. Nowadays Tirolo Castle hosts the South Tyrolean Museum of Cultural and Provincial History, illustrating the history of Tyrol from its beginnings to the present. The museum shows the history of the 20th century, depicted on 20 different levels. A very special experience is visiting the fascinating birds of prey at the Bird Care Centre Castel Tirolo.
